The capital of Yazd province, entirely
surrounded by desert, is an important stopover on caravan
export routes to central Asia and India. Yazd is well known
not only for its large Zoroastrian population but also for its
many qanats(underground conduits)and badgers(wind towers). It
is also said that Marco Polo was the first foreigner who
visited Yazd on his way to East.
ヤズド州（ヤズド市）
全体が砂漠に覆われているヤズド州の州都は中央アジアやインドのキャラバンの輪草送ルートの重要な 拠点でした。ヤズドは拝火教徒が多く住んでいること沢山のカナット（地下溝）やバドギイル（風の塔）があることでも有名です。
マルコポーロが東洋へ行く途中で、ヤズドに立ち寄った最初の外国人と言われております。
